Shizue Kuranushi (暮主静枝, Kuranushi Shizue), nicknamed Boss (ボス, Bosu), is a main character featured in AI: THE SOMNIUM FILES, AI: THE SOMNIUM FILES - nirvanA Initiative, and the Lemniscate YouTube series.Īs her name implies, she is the commander of Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department's Advanced Brain Investigation Squad (ABIS). She will do whatever it takes to keep her friends safe and healthy, even resorting to illegal means, such as blackmail, in dire circumstances. Boss is fiercely independent, but also fiercely loyal and protective. She is rebellious, not hesitating to go behind HQ's back when it is required.

This often takes the form of playful teasing, or sexual innuendo. Boss is not above joking around, often making Pewter or Kaname Date the butt of her jokes. She takes her work seriously, but tries her best to construct a relaxed work environment, as is evidenced by the way she decorates her office, and her treatment of her colleagues. This makes her great at interrogations because she never fails to ask the hard questions. Her resting face is largely neutral, but her narrowed eyes and pouted lips give the impression of an inquisitive person.īoss is impulsive, confident, and level-headed. Boss wears black gloves and black crew socks under red leather boots. She leaves the zipper for her dress undone most of the way, and her jacket open, a nod to the informal atmosphere she tries hard to maintain. Boss wears a red leather jacket over a dark grey and black hooded dress. She seems to usually wear minimal make-up, though she is known on occasion to wear red lipstick. She has thick brown eyebrows and brown eyes.

While RPG Toolkit currently only supports outputting Windows binaries.Boss has messy dark-brown hair that she ties back in a ponytail. However, in my opinion, RPGBoss has a one-up on RPG Toolkit as games produced with it can be played on multiple platforms.

I would say that the best free alternative to it is RPG Toolkit. While I do have many complaints about RPGBoss in its current state, there are very few free & open-source 2D RPG game making projects at its level. this is nice, however, for portability & distribution on multiple platforms.

some dialogs are too big & need scrolling capability.

default autotile tileset should be removable from maps.

number of map layers are limited (users should be able to set their own layers).

ability to remove entities from maps (may already have this capability but I have not found it yet).

a more dynamic method of setting/changing character sprites.

Some improvements/fixes I think it needs:

both the editor & exported games should work on any platform that supports Java & its GUI libraries (libgdx I believe).

games can be easily tested from within editor.

all-in-one interface with built-in map editor.

But there is much work to be done & many open issues & requests remain open on the GitHub project page. I commend the developers on an excellent job. Unfortunately, development has not been very active recently & it needs many improvements & fixes. Currently, it even comes with some RPG Maker sprites & tilesets. I haven't used RPG Maker that much, but from what I can tell, the style is similar. It is a completely free alternative to RPG Maker.
